As many as 85 students of a school in Uttrakhand's Nainital have tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. This outbreak is reported to have taken place at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Nainital's Gangarkote.
"Initially, 11 students tested positive along the school stuff was found COVID-19 infected. Following that Uttarakhand Health Department set up a testing camp and took 496 samples in which 85 students were found to be COVID-19 positive" Deputy Collecter Rahul Sah said.
The school has now been transformed into a micro-containment zone. Children are being isolated in the school itself and arrangements are being made for them. Children who will have a negative RT-PCR test will then have a rapid antigen test following which they would be discharged.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand on Saturday reported four new cases of Omicron variant taking the state tally of COVID-19 cases of the new variant to eight.
