On Sunday, Indian Shuttler PV Sindhu won the women's single title at the Syed Modi International tournament and ended her 2 year title drought.
In the finals, Sindhu defeated Malvika Bansod 21-13, 21-16 in a clash that lasted 35 minutes. She won the first set comprehensively and carried on the momentum to wrap up the match in straight sets.
Meanwhile, the all-french clash for men's single final between Arnaud Merkle and Lucas Claerbout was declared "No Match" after one of the finalists tested positive for COVID-19.
"The men's singles final of the Syed Modi India International 2022 has been declared as 'No Match'. BWF can confirm one of the finalists tested positive for COVID-19 this morning," the Badminton World Federation in a statement said.
"The other finalist is deemed a close contact and has also been withdrawn. Details on winner status, world ranking points and prize money will be revealed in due course" the statement further read.
