As per several reports, a 45-year-old man suffering from HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) was arrested by the Mumbai Police on Monday, February 7, for alleging raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
According to the police, the accused committed this crime when the mother was not there. After inquiry, the police found out that the mother is also HIV positive.
The police are checking to see if he has infected the minor too and whether he had raped her once or multiple times in the past.
This incident was uncovered when the minor recounted the ordeal to a woman in her neighbourhood. The woman then took her to the police station and filed a complaint.
A case was registered in the Azad Maidan Police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012.
A team was sent to the accused's home and he was arrested on the very same night when the case was filed.
