In an attempt to scale up the ongoing evacuation efforts under "Operation Ganga", Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked the Indian Air Force (IAF) to join the evacuation efforts.
As per ANI, the leveraging capacities of the Air Force can ensure more people can be evacuated in a shorter frame time. It is also said to help deliver humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
As many as eight flights carrying Indians from Romania and Hungary (both share land borders with Ukraine), have landed in India.
- The IAF is likely to deploy several C-17 aircraft on Tuesday as a part of Operation Ganga.
Meanwhile, Spicejet is set to operate a special flight to Slovakia with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju onboard as the flight will depart from New Delhi to Kosice, Slovakia to help in the evacuation efforts.
Earlier in the day an advisory was shared which advised all Indian nationals including students to leave Kyiv urgently today through trains or any other means available.
- The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday also informed that one Indian student lost his life in Kharkiv this morning because of a shelling in the area.
As per reports, a major attack on Kyiv by Russian forces is likely to take place today.
