18-year-old brutally kills a man with axe at Nalasopara

In the wee hours of Friday, a person brutally killed a 28-year-old man with an axe at Nalasopara in Maharashtra's Palghar district.

According to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar police, the victim, Sainath Jadhav, was killed while attempting to save his relative from being attacked by the accused, Roopesh Thackeray (18), who was later arrested.

The incident occurred at around 2.30 a.m, the police said.

"The accused was stragulating Jadhav's relative following some argument. But when Jadhav rushed to rescue his kin, the accused fatally attacked him with an axe," an official said.

A case of murder was registered against Roopesh and he was held, the police said, adding that the victim's body was sent for post-mortem to a government hospital.
