In an unfortunate incident, five members of a family, including three children lost their lives on Saturday after the family drowned in a quarry in a village near Dombivali in Thane district.
As per reports they had gone to wash clothes when the tragic incident happened. The victims have been identified as Mira Gaikwad (55), Apeksha (30), Mayuresh (14), Moksha (13) and Siddhesh (14).
According to the police, one of the children slipped and fell into the water.... To save the child, the others also jumped into the water. Unfortunately all of them drowned.
The village has been facing an acute water supply problem which led to many families to go to quarry for washing clothes.
A report of accidental death by drowning has been filed by the police.
