Delhi reports first Monkeypox case in patient with no travel history; India's fourth case

 

On Sunday, Delhi reported its first case of Monkeypox in a 31-year-old man with no travel history.

This is the country's fourth case of the viral disease and the first case with no travel history. The patient is admitted to the Maulana Azad Medical College.

He was admitted to the hospital with fever and skin lesions. However, the patient is in a stable condition.

  • The country's first three cases were reported on July 14, July 18 and July 22 respectively. All three cases were found in Kerala with travel history.

Earlier on Saturday, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared this virus as a global health emergency as it's outbreak expanded over 70 countries.

According to WHO, Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic infection caused by Monkeypox virus. It spreads mostly through human contact.
