Temple Connect, founded by Giresh Kulkarni, has partnered with Goa’s Department of Tourism to enhance temple management and spiritual tourism. A key initiative is distributing Temple Management - A Complete Handbook on Systematic Temple Management to 600 temples across Goa.
Authored by Dr. Suresh Haware, the book offers strategies for effective temple management, covering resource optimization, infrastructure development, community engagement, and the use of modern technologies.
The collaboration aims to position Goa as a premier spiritual destination by improving temple operations, attracting spiritual tourists, and fostering cultural preservation. Workshops and training sessions will complement the book, equipping temple managers with advanced management techniques. Initiatives like the International Temples Convention and Expo (ITCx) will provide a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Kulkarni stated, "Temples hold immense cultural, spiritual, and economic significance, and through our collaboration with the Goa Tourism Board, we are ensuring they can harness their full potential as vibrant community centres. The strategies outlined in this handbook provide a clear roadmap for temple management practices, incorporating holistic approaches. Recognizing the pressing need for skilled manpower to manage these sacred sites, we plan to conduct workshops for temple managers - which will, in turn, lay the groundwork for a well-rounded experience for visitors."
Goa Tourism minister Rohan A. Khaunte emphasizes this effort as part of the state’s broader strategy to attract global spiritual seekers, boost footfalls, and support local economies. This partnership sets the foundation for a sustainable and prosperous spiritual tourism ecosystem in Goa.
