On Friday, one of Congress party's seniormost leader – Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from all his posts quitting the Congress party blaming Rahul Gandhi for "demolishing the consultative mechanism" in the party.
Recounting his long association with the Congress and his close relationship with Indira Gandhi, Azad said the situation in the Congress party has reached a point of "no return."
- In a hard-hitting 5 page letter to party interim president Sonia Gandhi, Azad claimed that the party is run by a "coterie", not her, and that all major decisions are made by "Shri Rahul Gandhi or, worse, his security guards and PAs."

“All senior and experienced leaders were sidelined and new coterie of inexperienced sycophants started running the affairs of the party,” added Azad.
- Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi, Azad wrote, "Since the 2019 elections the situation in the party has only worsened."
This development comes just days after Azad resigned from Jammu and Kashmir's organisational post and another Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill tendered his resignation from the post of Congress' national spokesperson.
