Govt bans 8 YouTube channel, 1 FB account for "fake, anti-India" hate content

 

On Thursday, the Centre blocked eight YouTube-based news channels, including one operating from Pakistan and one Facebook account for posting "fake, anti-India content" online.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting took the action by imposing emergency powers under Information Technology Rules, 2021.

The blocked YouTube channels had cumulative views of over 114 crore and were subscribed by over 85 lakh users.

• The channels that have been banned are: Loktantra TV, U&V TV, AM Razvi, Gouravshali Pawan Mithilanchal, SeeTop5TH, Sarkari Update and Sab Kuch Dekho. Duniya ki News is the Pakistan based channel that has been blocked.

Following this action, the Ministry since December 2021, have blocked over 102 YouTube-based channels and several other social media accounts.
