Kashmiri Pandit brothers shot by terrorists in J-K's Shopian; one dead another injured.

On Tuesday, a Kashmiri Pandit – Sunil Kumar was shot dead while his brother – Pintu Kumar was left severely injured by terrorists at an apple orchard in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.

This is a second attack on non-migrant Pandits in the valley in less than 24 hours. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and political leaders cutting across party lines have condemned the killings.

On Monday - as the country was celebrating its 75th Independence Day - terrorists threw a grenade at a house in Budgam and injured a civilian identified as Karan Kumar Singh. Singh was shifted to a Srinagar hospital.

Despite tight security in view of Independence Day, militants have stepped up attacks in the Kashmir valley over the past week.

A policeman – Sarfaraz Ahmad was killed in Srinagar's Nowhatta on Sunday and a migrant labourer in Bandipora last week. Two grenade attacks took place in Budgam and Srinagar districts on Monday. In a separate attack on the same day, terrorists threw a grenade at a police control room in Srinagar's Batamaloo area. One police personnel was injured.
