On Friday September 2, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to activist Teesta Setalvad in a case related to the 2002 Gujarat riots case.
The apex court directed Setalvad to render complete cooperation in the probe, and asked her to submit her passport.
- Setalvad was arrested on June 25 for allegedly fabricating documents to frame "innocent people" in the 2002 Gujarat riots case. She was held on charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery and other Sections of the IPC.
The Ahmedabad sessions court on July 30 had refused to grant bail to Setalvad and Sreekumar while noting that the accused had aimed to "destabilise" the Gujarat government.
