"Trail of an Assassin", web series based on Rajiv Gandhi's assassination in works

A web series based on the assassination of Former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is in works.

  • Titled "Trial of an Assassin", the project will be made using inputs from Anirudhya Mitra's recently launched book 'Ninety Days: The True Story of the Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi's Assassin' by Applause Entertainment.

Nagesh Kukunoor has come onboard to helm the web series. "I look forward to taking on this gritty and thrilling piece of storytelling, adapted from Ninety Days: The True Story of the Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi's Assassin. It has always been an enriching an creatively satisfying experience collaborating with Applause Entertainment and excited to this how this one unfolds," Kukunoor said.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991, in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu by an LTTE Suicide bomber. The woman assassin' Dhanu, triggered a belt bomb and killed Gandhi along with 16 others.
