CM Kejriwal appeals to put images of deities Lakshmi-Ganesha on currency notes

On Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the Centre to include photos of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh on currency notes in India to improve the economic situation of the country.

"Today, I appeal to the central government that our currency has a picture of Gandhi ji on one side, it should be kept as it is, but on the other side, pictures of Lakshmi ji and Ganesh ji should be included," the Indian Express quoted the Delhi CM.

Giving an example of Indonesia he said ,"If Indonesia can do it; choose Ganesh ji, so can we."

  • Lord Ganesh is inscribed on the 20,000 rupiah note of Indonesia.

He said he would soon write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with this request.
