Young man swept away by waterfall in Udupi

In Udupi district of Karnataka, a young man named Sharath Kumar from Bhadravathi in Shivamogga district fell into the Arasinagundi waterfalls while filming an Instagram Reel on Sunday.

The incident was captured on camera by his friend and has gone viral on the internet. Despite the arrival of police and emergency services for a search and rescue operation, the man's body could not be recovered, and the rescue operation will continue today.

The heavy rainfall in Karnataka has caused flooding in several areas, particularly the Nandavara, Aladka, and Gudina regions near Bantwal taluk. The active southwest monsoon has caused small streams to overflow and inundate low-lying areas, creating a flood scare in Karnataka. As a precaution, authorities have announced a holiday for schools and colleges in nine districts, including Belagavi, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, Hassan, Shivamogga, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Kodagu.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued high alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in all three coastal districts of Karnataka: Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada.

It is essential to take this warning seriously, exercise caution, and follow safety guidelines in such conditions. It is also important to stay informed about weather conditions and be prepared for any potential consequences.
