Renowned Bengali singer Anup Ghoshal, aged 77, recognized prominently for 'Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi' from the 1983 film 'Masoom' and his timeless contributions to Satyajit Ray's musicals, passed away on Friday, as confirmed by his family.
Having been admitted to a private hospital in south Kolkata for age-related ailments over the past few days, he succumbed to multi-organ failure at 1:40 pm. Ghoshal, a Trinamool Congress candidate who won the 2011 assembly polls from the Uttarpara seat, is survived by two daughters.
Demonstrating remarkable versatility, Ghosal, a prolific singer, showcased his artistry by rendering songs by Kaji Nazrul Islam, Rabindranath Tagore, and contemporary Bengali compositions. Renowned as a playback singer, he left an indelible mark with his contributions to Satyajit Ray's 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne' and 'Hirak Rajar Deshe.' Directors such as Tapan Sinha also sought his melodic voice for their cinematic creations.
