On Wednesday, 9 October 2024, veteran industrialist and chairman emeritus of Tata Sons - Ratan Naval Tata, passed away at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. After several days in intensive care due to age-related health concerns, his condition had worsened. Earlier this week, routine medical tests had prompted his hospital admission, leading to public concern.
Mr. Tata on Monday took to his social media to address the growing speculation, assuring everyone that his health evaluations were "routine" and that there was "no cause for concern." He emphasized that he remained in "good spirits" and urged the media to avoid spreading false information. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated in the following days.
In an official statement, N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Tata Group. He paid tribute to Tata as an exceptional leader who not only transformed the company but also played a pivotal role in shaping India’s growth.
