India on Saturday said it is closely monitoring the situation along the border between Cambodia and Thailand, where armed clashes have broken out between the two Southeast Asian neighbours, claiming around 30 lives so far.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, said, "India has close and friendly relations with both countries and hopes that both sides will take measures for a cessation of hostilities and prevention of further escalation. Indian travellers in the region may contact our respective Embassies in the two countries for any assistance."
Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh advised Indian nationals in Cambodia to avoid travelling to the Thailand-Cambodia border areas in view of the armed clashes there.
