A 29-year-old man, Rohit Lal, was found dead in his paying guest accommodation in Sector 53, Gurugram, with police suspecting the cause of death as an overdose of sex enhancement drugs that may have triggered a fatal cardiac. The deceased is a native of Nagpur who was employed with the Quality Council of India in New Delhi and resided alone in the rented PG flat.
The incident came to light on Thursday morning, 23 April 2026, when a co-worker, who regularly commuted to work with Lal, grew concerned after his calls went unanswered and Lal failed to open his room door. The co-worker alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and broke open the door, discovering Lal lying dead on the bed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Lal had invited his fiancee to meet him prior to his death, though he died before the meeting could take place. Wrappers of medicines and health supplements were recovered from the room, which police have seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
The body was handed over to the family following a post-mortem examination. Investigators have stressed that the overdose hypothesis remains a preliminary assessment and that the official cause of death will be confirmed upon receipt of the post-mortem report, police said.
