Spending More Than 3 hours on Computer/ Mobile Can Lead To Long Term Myopia and Other Eyes Diseases.


Online Classes Are Affecting Children's Eyes
Children's screen time has increased due to these Corona times. Most children are attending online classes for 4 to 5 hours. They also resort to digital gadgets for entertainment. This is likely to increase the problem of myopia, squint, dry eyes in children because spending more than 3 hours looking at the screen is dangerous. This has been said by Dr. Vinita Ramnani, a well-known Eye Specialist from Bhopal. She said that increament in screen time affects the eyesight, which is also increasing the digital strain, irritability, insomnia and aggravation.
Dr. Ramanani explains that people having more problems with eye irritation, headache, and increasing glass number are coming to her.
She told that in China, children who have glasses, are taught not in class but in natural light so that their eye power does not increase.
Symptoms That Increase With Time
Eye strain, tiredness, tension, pain, dryness, itching, blurred vision, and headaches are symptoms of digital strain that decrease in the morning but increase in the evening.

Dr. Ramnani told that according to a study, if the condition remains the same, according to the prediction of 2050, 50 percent people will be suffering from myopia.
Remedies/ Precautions that are to be strictly followed:-
  • Place the computer screen 20 to 26 inches away at 10 to 20 degree angle.
  • Keep screen brightness and contrast low, font size large.
  • Apply anti-glare mirror on your device screen and also wear anti-glare glasses.
  • After every 20 minutes, look at something at a distance of 20 feet for 20 seconds.
  • Do not give mobile to children up to/under 5 years old.
  • Make children involved in non Digital games.
  • Take Lubricating or Tear Substitute with a Doctor's Prescription.
