On Saturday, Arsenal Defeated Chelsea 2-1 to win the FA Cup for a record 14th Time. That win marks Mikel Arteta's first major trophy as a manager and Arsenal's first major title since 2017 when the beat Chelsea by the same scoreline.
Going into the Match Arsenal where in a mixed form with wins over Liverpool and Manchester City but somehow lost to Aston Villa,which proved vital for the Villians as they survived. Chelsea had already finished in top 4 ahead of Leicester City,who for 10 months were ahead of the Blues in 3rd.
Both Teams defence had been vunreable at times and Chelsea got a head start when in form Christian Pulisic fired them into the lead inside 5 minutes to give Chelsea the lead. It looked like they would go on to dominate but Arsenal had other plans.
Arsenal were denied a brilliant goal from Pepe for offside,but seconds later were awarded a penalty when Chelsea Captain Cesar Azpiliceuta brought down Arsenal Captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in the box. The Chelsea skipper was shown a yellow card. Aubameyang scored from the spot to level up the final.
The day got bad to worse for Chelsea Skipper,as he was taken down by a hamstring and was substituted in the 35th minute. A double blow for Chelsea occured when Goal Scorer Pulisic also pulled of his hamstring and had to leave the field in the 48th minute. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored again in the 67th minute, chipping his effort above Chelsea Keeper Caballero to make it 2-1.
Chelsea then lost Mateo Kovacic through a controversial decision by the referee as he was shown a second yellow and was sent off. There the game was over for Chelsea. They would go on to lose substitute Pedro as well through Injury in injury time of the second half. The match finished with 15 minutes of injury time.
Arsenal have now qualified for the Europa League next season as the winners of FA CUP.
