Legendary Indian classical vocal maestro Shri Pandit Jasraj has passed away in the US. Pandit Jasraj belonged to the Mewati gharana, and in his eminent career in music spanning more than 80 years, the legend had been awarded several prestigious honors and awards, including the Padma Shri in 1975, Padma Vibhushan in 1990, and Padma Vibhushan in the year 2000.
Pandit Jasraj’s contribution to classical music remains matchless. He taught music in India, Canada as well as the US. Pandit Jasraj tutored several students who went on to become renowned notable musicians. Soon after the news of his death surfaced, Netizens took to their social media, and expressed their grief, and paid condolences to the family.
