Pune overtakes Mumbai as the worst affected City in Maharashtra by COVID-19

 

India continues to be 3rd worst hit country only behind Brazil and USA

On Sunday, Maharashtra's academic and cultural capital Pune broke ahead of Mumbai and emerged as the country's new "Corona Capital" with the most number of cases.

Maharashtra remains to be the worst hit state in the country with around 5,95,865 cases as same as South Africa's whole country (5,83,653) according to WorldoMeter.

Mumbai continues to top the death toll in India. Now Pune has went ahead of Mumbai with a staggering 1,30,606 cases and 3,163 deaths. Mumbai has 1,28,726 cases and 7,133 deaths so far. Pune also has the highest number of active case with 41,020 twice more than compared to Mumbai's 17,825.

A total of more than 11,000 cases were reported yesterday in Maharashtra with less than 300 deaths for the first time in four days. With 288 new deaths the state's toll reached 20,000 which is the highest for a state in the country.

The recovery rate in Maharashtra reached 70% when 8,874 were discharged yesterday. That took the number of Recoveries to 4,17,123 and the active cases to 1,58,395.
