On Tuesday in one of the Quarantine Centres Eastern suburbs of Mumbai a 20 year old man has been arrested for molesting a 17 year old girl. She was found Covid-19 positive and was shifted to the centre for her treatment.
The accused person was a part time worker at the centre who was responsible for disinfecting the centre. He had allegedly groped her earlier on Monday and was then arrested on Tuesday after a complaint was launched.
The girl had been tested positive for Covid-19 and was transferred this centre on September 9. All her other family members were tested negative.
A Police offical said "Around 3 a.m. on Monday the accused entered the room on the pretext of disinfecting it. On finding the minor asleep, he groped and tried to kiss her.The Girl raised an alarm. She also resisted an attack and slapped the accused."
The official added that the other two patients who were admitted with her in the ward helped and saved her. The next morning her family members launched a complained against him and he was arrested.
Police have booked him for outraging modesty of a woman and assualt under the POCSO ACT. He was produced in the court on Tuesday itself and is now remanded under custody.
Even during a time of a global Pandemic in India, girls are not safe from monsters like this.
