The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Corporations on Thursday passed a No Confidence Motion Against Kishori Pedenkar over allegations of irregularities in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and on the failure to contain the number of Coronavirus cases.
"We have requested for an emergency meeting under Section 36 (H) of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act,1888 to move a no confidence motion against the mayor" said Vijay Mishra BJP leader in BMC.
Earlier on Thursday, Kishori Pedenkar took over to social media to say that she has been tested Covid-19 positive and is now at home quarantine. She has previously denied the allegations on her over corruption charges. She has also asked all those who came in contact with her to get tested.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has demanded that she resigns from her post after she was accused of using her position to award contracts to her son's firm.
MNS party general Sandeep Deshpande alleged that the mayor has used 'her position and influence' to award contracts of work to her son Saiprasad Pedenkar. Now that the mayor is in home Quarantine for 14 days it looks like the meeting will be delayed for some time.
