There is a reason the Indian Premier League is regarded as best cricketing league. The second match of IPL 13 was a tie and was decided by Super Over as Delhi Captails Defeated Kings XI Punjab as Marcus Stoinis become the Man of the Match.
Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bowl first. Punjab had a new Captain in the face of KL Rahul as Ravichandran Ashwin Departed for Delhi Captails.
Delhi didn't get quite off a great start as they lost both Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw with the scores just at 9/2. Things become worse as they lost Shimron Hetmyer as the score of 13/3 in just 4 hours. The innings was then given stability after a great partnership by Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer as they added a 73 run partnership.
Once again the match turned its side as within 2 balls Delhi lost both of them with the score at 87/5. Soon they lost the 6th wicket with the score at 96/6.
Then came Marcus Stoinis. He took matters in his own hands. Delhi Captails at the start of 17th over were at 100/6. They finished the match at 157/8 as 57 runs were added in the last 3 overs out of which 30 came in the last over. Stoinis blasted 53 runs of just 21 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
The tide turned again as the rollercoaster kept on going as after a good start, Kings XI Punjab lost 4 wickets in the space of 5 runs within 2 overs as the score went from 30/0 to 35/4. Things took worse turns as at the end of the 10th over Punjab were reduced to 55/5. Wickets kept on falling but Mayank Agrawal kept his nerve.
A 46 run partnership with Gowatham hepled Punjab get a little grib in the match and then Mayank started to take control. In the final over Punjab needed 13 runs with Mayank on strike and the ball was with Marcus Stoinis.
12 runs were scored of the first 3 balls as a six,a double and a four by Agrawal brought the game down to 1 run from 3 balls. As the game had been, there was another twist. A Dot Ball and then the wicket of Agrawal who tried to lob the ball but was caught by Hetmyer made the equation at 1 run from 1 ball. Chris Jordan's drive went straight into the hands of Rabada as the game was tied at the same score of 157/8. Stoinis had not only saved Delhi with bat but with the ball as well.
In the Super Over, Punjab could only score 2 runs as Kagada got Rahul caught out and then bowled out Pooran. Delhi had no problem to score the 3 runs as they went to win this match.
