On Thursday Morning, one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Twitter account was hacked leading to a probe by the social media company.
The account @narendramodi_in had posted tweets asking followers to donate to BitCoin to specific accounts. This account has been linked to PM's personal website and is one which he uses himself.
It tweeted " I appeal to you all to donate generously to the PM National Relief Fund for Covid-19. Now begin India with Crypto Currency.Kindly Donate Bitcoin."
Minutes later another tweet was sent out which said "Yes this account has been hacked by John Wick (hackindia@tutanota.com). We have not hacked Paytm Mall".
For those who don't know John Wick is a Hollywood Movie starring popular Actor Keanu Reeves as the lead actor. The story is about an retired assassin John Wick who goes on a rampage to kill gangsters who had killed his per dog.
A Twitter spokesperson said that they are well aware of this activity and are looking into it. Several hours later the account was restored and the tweets were deleted.
