Diego Castillo with the Save for the Rays

The First Game of the best of seven series of the American League Championship Series(ALCS) saw the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Houston Astros 2-1 to take a 1-0 lead.

Tampa Bay started the series with handing the 2018 AL Cy Young Award Winner, Blake Snell the start in the first game. He was not at his best in the game as he only picked out 2 strikeouts as he pitched 5 innings.

The first break through game in the first inning itself as Jose Altuve blasted off a solo home run to give the Astros the lead. They would get many more opportunities to score but great pitching from the Rays's pitchers and defensive plays restricted the Astros from scoring again.

The Houston Astros are considered to be villian in public's eye after an investigation report said that they have been allegedly stealing signs from Opponents in 2017(The Season the won the World Series) and 2018 season, so a win for Tampa Bay was always welcomed by the fans.

The Rays levelled the score in the bottom of the 4th innings when man in form this post season Randy Arozarena slammed home a solo home run to make things interesting. This was his 4th Home Run of the post season.

Rays then took the lead in the bottom of the 5th innings when Mike Zunino drove in the go ahead run as the Astros were left thinking about their missed chances. The game was then saved for the Rays by Diego Castillo as he got 5 outs which included a double play to hand Rays the win.

Tampa Bay are trying to reach their second World Series after losing in 2008 to Philadelphia Phillies whereas the Astros are trying to reach their third World Series Final in 4 years after winning in 2017 against Los Angeles Dodgers and losing to Washington Nationals in last year's Series.
