Existing Lockdown Restrictions extended till 31st December,2020 in Maharashtra

 

On Friday, the Maharashtra Government decided to extend the existing Lockdown Restrictions which are imposed till 31st December,2020 due to a potential surge of another Covid-19 wave. However a lockdown is not imposed and those restrictions which were eased earlier under "Mission Begin Again" will be there.

In the last couple of months, the Maharashtra Government had eased severely restrictions by releasing revised guidelines time to time which allowed resumption of various activities in the state.

Just 2 weeks ago, the Government had allowed the reopening of worship places in the state. Schools and Colleges are also reopened for Classes 9-12 in some parts. Hotels, Restaurants and Bars have also reopened.

Due to the fear of a second COVID-19 wave which the CM Udhaav Thackeray described as "Tsunami", the Government have laid to certain curbs and discussion of curbs like night curfew is likely to take place. Passengers arriving in Mumbai from Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi will have to carry a Negative Covid-19 report to enter Mumbai.

Maharashtra continues to be the country's worst affected state by COVID-19. Yesterday Maharashtra recorded 6,185 fresh new cases and the rally reached 18,08,550. Around 4,089 patients recovered yesterday and were discharged. With 46,898 deaths total there are still 87,969 cases in Maharashtra.
