India: UN Security Council Has Become An Impaired Organ

The UN Security Council

Today at the 75th United Nations General Assembly(UNGA), India said that the United Nations Security Council has become an "impaired organ" and is "unable to act with credibility essentially due to its unrepresentative nature".

India's Permanent Representative to the UN, TS Tirumurti also said that the IGN(Intergovernmental Negotiations) has become a platform for debate in a university rather than a serious result-oriented process in the United Nations consisting of sovereign member states.

In that statement he added that IGN has remained the same since the last decade and is yet to move on. He said that the countries are forced to keep their own records as the IGN doesn't record anything and we have to start again next year as nothing as happened.

He didn't mention anything about Pakistan and said that they(India) are not intended of wasting the time of the Assembly by responding to "irresponsible remarks" made by the representatives of Pakistan. "This is a forum for serious debate, not frivolous allegations" he added.
