A Late Show from Hardik Pandya leads India to Victory In The Second T20I

 


After India won the first game of the T20 of the three match series,India won the second T20I as well by 6 wickets with 2 balls left to go and won the 3 match T20I series.

Australia were without Captain Aaron Finch. Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade was given the Captain's role in this match.India won the toss and choose to bowl first.

Australia made a fast start with the opening duo of Short and Wade scoring 42 runs in the first 4 overs. T Natarajan got the better of Short as he was dismissed for a run a ball 9. Matthew Wade was joined by the Man of the ODI Series Steve Smith.

Wade scored 58 runs of 32 balls with 10 fours and 1 six. However his innings ended through a miscommunication and he was runned out by Virat Kohli.

Short Cameo from Maxwell,Henriques and Stoinis along with a well played inning of 46 runs from Steve Smith helped Australia cruise through and managed to score 194/5 in their 20 overs.

India started of strong as well with Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul. Rahul was dismissed in the 6th over by Andre Tye after he tried to lift it over only for the ball to land safely in the hands of Mitchell Sweepson. Rahul scored 30 of 22 ball.Dhawan was then joined on the crease by Virat Kohli.

The duo stabilized the innings and kept India in the game scoring runs,keeping with the required run rate.Dhawan managed a half century scoring 52 runs of 36 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes.

At one stage of the game, India required 56 Runs in the last 5 overs. It looked the match was sailing according to India but soon Virat Kohli lost his wicket at the score of 149/4 leaving India with two new batsmen in the form of Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya at the pitch.

However Pandya kept his red hot form going. With 25 runs needed in the last two overs, Pandya managed to score 11 in the 19th over and scored 14 runs of the first 4 balls of the last over finishing the game of a six to give India the victory in the match and the series. He scored an unbeaten 42 runs of just 22 balls and was well supported by Iyer who remained unbeaten at a score of 12 runs of 5 balls. This was a 3rd successive lose for Australia and will now try, like India did in the ODI Series to avoid a whitewash.
