Kenyan Man Declared Dead, Wakes Up & Wails In Pain At Morgue

In another shocking incident of medical imprudence, a Kenyan man who was declared dead by doctors woke up in the morgue while workers were preparing to embalm and drain blood from his body.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Peter Kigen, regained consciousness started screaming inside the morgue when a staff sliced his leg open.

According to reports, after suffering from a stomach ailment he was rushed to Kaplatet Hospital in Kericho by his family. However, Kigen’s brother said that a nurse had informed the family he had passed away.

"The nurse later handed me a document to take to the mortuary attendant before my brother's body was moved to the morgue,” Kigen’s brother told a local news outlet.

[Once Kigen was pronounced dead, his body was immediately transferred to the hospital mortuary where the attendants were ready to start the embalming process.

Just when the staff was preparing to drain blood from his body before the embalming process, they realised he is alive. As Kigen regained consciousness and began to wail in pain, the attendants ran away thinking a dead man had come back to life.

Following the shocking incident, Kigen was rushed back to the hospital's casualty department, where he was given first aid.]

Kigen's Brother said, “The mortician called me into the morgue, and we saw him make movements. We were shocked. We could not understand how they could move a person who is still alive into the mortuary".

Kigen told reporters that he couldn’t believe he was declared dead by the doctors, adding he wants to dedicate his life to evangelism.

"I cannot believe what just happened. How did they establish that I was dead? I did not even know where I was when I regained consciousness, but I thank God for sparing my life. I will serve him for the rest of my life," he said.

According to reports, the hospital is now being accused of negligence by Kigen's family.
