Might impose a lockdown again in Maharashtra: Deputy CM

With a surge in Covid-19 Cases in Maharashtra, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said that the government will monitor the progress in the next 8-10 days and if the cases keep on surging than few steps might need to be taken, even a possible lockdown.

"There were huge crowds during Diwali Period. Even at the time of Ganesh Chaturthi, we saw crowds. We are speaking to relevant departments. We will review the situation for the next 8-10 days and then a decision will be taken about the lockdown".

His statement comes at a time when the surge in cases are seen in many parts of the country signalling the arrival of the second wave. In Gujarat, the 4 major Cities Ahmedabad,Rajkot,Surat and Vadodra have been put in Curfew.

With the addition of 5,733 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, Maharashtra's Covid-19 tally rose to 17,80,208 with the number of recovered cases at  16,51,064 with 81,512 active cases.
