On Thursday evening, a cash van transporting cash worth Rs 4.3 Crore was stolen by it's driver and was later found abandoned in Kalyan Naka in Bhiwandi some 44 kms away from Virar. All the cash was missing from the van.
The van belonged to cash logistics company and was equipped with a live GPS tracking system. The last location of the van showed Bhiwandi and now police are trying to find out how the driver Rohit Aaru(26) sabotaged the GPS system.
Aaru was driving the van that was loading money in ATMs in the Vasai-Virar region ahead of Diwali. At around 5:30 pm when Cash Custodians and a armed security guard enter the Kotak Mahindra Bank in a place in Virar West to stock up the cash, Aaru drove away the vehicle.
Three police teams have been formed to track him down. The police had also reached his home in Chembur to question his family members. His cellphone has been placed on tracking.
The police have also questioned the Custodians and the security guard. They also believe that more people are also associated in this case. Aaru is said to not have any prior criminal case against him. He had joined this private firm a few months ago.
