Spain Thrash Germany 6-0 in Nations League Group Stage

Ferran Torres

International Break in football is always considered boring due to national teams playing friendlies against each other. This break though was something different. With the Euro 2020 postponed to 2021, European teams have been building on the UEFA Nations League which has been brought to replace those boring friendlies.

In one such matchup,2 of the past three World Cup Winners, Spain(2010 winners) faced Germany(2014 winners) in a top of the table affair. Spain would go on and thrash Germany 6-0 to go top in a bid to qualify for the knockout stages of the Nations League.

Alvaro Morata started the scoring in the 17th minute through a well glanced header past Manuel Neuer. Another free flowing move from the host saw Gaya drive down the left plank and cross it in the box for Ruiz whose header hitted the crossbar and fell straight in the path of Ferran Torres as he smashed his effort into the goal in the 33rd minute.

Torres club teammate Rodri scored 5 minutes later through another header to make it 3-0 to Spain inside 38 minutes and give them complete control of the game. Torres added his team's 4th and 5th goal in the 55th and 71st minute respectively to make it 5-0 for Spain and complete his Hattrick.

Jose Gaya then setted up Mikel Oyarzabal in the 89th minute after playing him in front of an open goal to tap it in and make it 6-0 for Spain and complete the Demolition. Germany will now know how it feels when you lose by 6 goals(They Defeated Brazil 7-1 in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Semi Final).
