Breaking: Actress Sanchita Ugale, 22, dies by suicide; found hanging at home

Television and film actress Sanchita Ugale, 22, died by suicide on the evening of June 14, 2026 at her residence in Sai Santoshi Building, Aachole Village, Nalasopara East. Police said the incident occurred between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm, when she was alone at home after her younger sister had stepped out earlier that evening.

According to Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Bagh of Achole Police Station, Sanchita had locked herself inside her bedroom and hanged herself from the ceiling fan using a saree. Family members and locals rushed her to Vasai Virar Municipal Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. No suicide note has been recovered so far.

Sanchita was known for portraying Diya Tandon in the Zee TV show Kumkum Bhagya, and had also appeared in Wagle Ki Duniya, Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, Sajan Ghar, Crimes Aaj Kal, and Crime Patrol: 48 Hours. On the film front, she featured in Chhaava as Tarabai. Just hours before her death, she had posted a cheerful Instagram reel of herself dancing to a popular song, which has since become a point of emotional remembrance for fans.

Based on a complaint filed by her father, Machhindra Ugale, Achole Police registered an Accidental Death Report under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita on June 15. Police said the exact cause behind the incident is yet to be determined and that a detailed investigation is underway from all possible angles. The news has left the television and film industry in shock, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and fans.
