On Tuesday, as numerous farmers continued camping at the Delhi-Haryana border in Singhu, farmer bodies and the political parties in opposition observed a nationwide ‘Bharat Bandh’ in protest against Central government’s three farm laws.
A lot of markets, shops and services in many states of the country such as Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, West Bengal, Assam, Karnataka, Maharashtra, were forcefully kept shut, while 85-90% of the same were open throughout the day as part of the protest. A chakka jam was also planned, that was supposed to happen from 11 am to 3 pm, but the "political game" was dredged off.
All essential services including movement of vehicles, ambulances, processions for weddings, etc. remained functional.
