In Reality India got destroyed by the pace duo of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood as the duo picked up 9 wickets between them with the latter having a 5 wicket haul. Having send Bumrah as Night Watchman, India lost 4 wickets within 6 runs as the score went from 9/1 to 15/5.
Not even a single Indian player could muster a double digits score as the wickets kept on falling and India were reduced to 31/9. Mohammed Shami and the last batsmen Umesh Yadav added 5 runs to the scoreboard but was later injured and could not continue and was declared retired hurt but India were declared all out for just 36 runs.
Due to the lead of 53 runs from the first innings, the target set for Australia was of 90. They eased passed the total in 21 overs with the score of 93/2 with an unbeaten 51 from Joe Burns. A humiliating defeat for India as Australia win by 8 wickets and take a 1-0 series lead.
