India Avoids Whitewash With A Win In The Third ODI

Having lost the first two ODI, India had already lost the series and were on the verge of facing a whitewash by the Hands of Australia in these One Day International Series. India were able to avoid a whitewash after they Defeated Australia by 13 Runs.

India had won the toss and elected to bat first. Both teams decided to have some changes in the lineup and give some new players a chance. India's opening has been a problem in the series. Once again the opening partnership didn't last long as India lost the first wicket at a score of 26/1.

Despite a fine innings from Captain Virat Kohli of 63 runs of 78 balls, India lost the plot in the middle overs and were reduced to 152/5 in 32 overs. With over 18 overs still left to play, a magnificent 150 run stand for the 6th wicket between Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja took place. The Duo added 93 runs in the last 7 overs to take the score to 302/5 as Pandya scored an unbeaten 92 of 76 balls(7 fours and 1 sixes) and Jadega scored an unbeaten 66 of just 50 balls(5 fours and 3 sixes).

Australia too decide to alter their opening pair which didn't pay for them. Labuschagne was sent to open the inning with Captain Aaron Finch as David Warner was rested for the game. Debutant T Natarajan got his first wicket for India after bowling out Labuschagne at the score of 25.

However the big wicket of man in form Steve Smith was taken by Shardul Thakur as he was edged out and caught behind by K.L Rahul. Australia too kept on losing Wickets at regular intervals and we're reduced to 158/5 in 31 overs. Aaron Finch scored 75 runs.

Glenn Maxwell and Alex Carey tried to do what Pandya and Jadega had done. However they were unsuccessful after Carey departed back to pavilion in the 38th Over with the scores now at 210/6. In the end it was too much on Maxwell shoulder and his wicket in the 45th over opened up the game for India as he departed with the score at 268/7 with 35 still needed of 33 balls.

In the end the Indian Bowlers came to clutch and bowled out Australia at the score of 289 in 49.3 overs. Steve Smith was named Man of the Series for scoring 216 runs in 3 games.
