Rahane's Unbeaten Ton helps India gain Momentum on Day 2

Having finished Day 1 strongly,India headed into Day 2 trying to avoid the scenes of Day 3 of the First Test as they continued to bat.India scored 36 runs with the loss of 1 wicket at the end of Day 1.

There was Drama at the very first ball of the Day after Cummins and Wicket Keeper Tim Paine thought they got Cheteshwar Pujara. With the Umpire'a decision not out,Tim Paine decided to go upstairs and use the DRS. The DRS replay though showed no signs on the snicko meter and the original decision standed.

There were few half chances for Australia as the ball kept on swinging in the morning making it hard for the Indian Batsmens to bat. After a well played knock of 45,Shubman Gill was caught behind by Cummins after a slight edge of the bat.

Soon India lost Pujara as well from another edge and a great one handed diving catch by Paine to put India in trouble at the score of 64/3. Stand in Captain Ajinkya Rahane was then joined by Hanuma Vihari at the crease.

The duo added a 52 run stand between them.As soon as things were looking good for Vihari he tried to go for a sweep shot and mistimed it and lost his wicket and gave away Australia a crucial break in the game.

Rahane added another 50+ run partnership, this time with Rishabh Pant as the duo added 57 runs for the 5th wicket. Pant was then caught behind by Starc as he picked up his 250th Test Wicket for Australia.

However the main spotlight remained on Ajinkya Rahane as they stand in Captain played an important knock and scored his 12th Test Century and his second against Australia as he kept the scoreboard tiking and added an unbeaten 104 run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja.

There was a major let off for Rahane though as his catch was somehow dropped by Travis Head.He had managed to take that catch but dropped it when his shoulders hitted the floor and soon after that the Rain started pouring again calling for the Umpires to Stump Day 2. At the end of the day India's score is 277/5 with Jadega and Rahane still in the mix.
