Unique Kashmiri Saffron Should Be Made Globally Popular: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 72nd edition of Mann Ki Baat on December 27 appealed to people to buy “unique” Kashmiri saffron and said that the Government wants to make Kashmiri saffron a globally popular brand as it received Geographical Indication Tag in the month of May this year.

He said that Kashmiri saffron represents the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. “It has a strong aroma, rich color, and its threads are long and thick which enhance its medicinal value. It represents the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. If we talk about quality then Kashmiri saffron is very unique and it is entirely different from saffron of other countries,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi talks about Hariman From Korwa Tribe

PM Modi also hailed Hiraman from Jharkhand who prepared a dictionary of Korwa language which is nearing extinction. “After untiring hard work of 12 years, Hiraman Ji of Korwa tribe from Jharkhand has prepared a dictionary of Korwa language which is nearing extinction. He has included numerous words used in daily life. What he has accomplished for Korwa tribe, is an example for the country,” said PM Modi.
