Real Madrid On The Verge Of Potential Champions League Group Stage Exit

The Los Blancos are the most successful club in the history of the UCL with a record 13 Titles to their name.

Another Tuesday, another Champions League action. MatchDay 5 of the UEFA Champions League kicked off last night with the headline story coming from Ukraine when Shakhtar Donetsk Defeated Real Madrid 2-0 and did a double over the Reigning Spanish Champions.

So far the start of season has not be great for the Spanish Champions. They have lost Eden Hazard again through another injury and sit on 4th in La Liga, 7 points behind Leaders Real Sociedad despite having a game in hand though. With their second defeat of this season group stage and a draw, the 13 Time Champions Los Blancos now face a humiliating group stage exit.

They started out strong but couldn't capitalize on their chances. Shakhtar had scored 3 first half goals against them in MatchDay 1 and once again punished Real for missing their chances. In the second half substitute Detinho made it 1-0 for the hosts in the 57th minute. The game was buried beyond Madrid's reach in the 82nd minute. However due to Inter's 3-2 away win over Gladbach later means that any team in Group B can still qualify for the knockout. The Los Blancos have a might task in their hands.

This just shows how much Real miss their Star Man Cristiano Ronaldo. Since his departure in 2018, Real haven't made it past the Round of 16(losing 5-3 to Ajax in 2018-19 and 4-2 to Manchester City in 2019-20 on aggregate).
