Forsberg (in white) and Coman (in red) |
With the North London Derby to be played later this Sunday, Saturday proved to be an entertaining day for fans. The Headline fixture of Saturday came from Germany when Champions Bayern Munchen took on RB Leipzig. Bayern were held to a draw by Atletico Madrid in the week in MatchDay 5 of the UCL while Leipzig won a 7 goal thriller against Istanbul Basaksheir.
It was Leipzig who stricked first in the game. A quick counter attack after Bayern's attack failed at one end allowed Emil Forsberg to lay his ball past onrushing Neuer for a simple finish for Christopher Nkunku in the 19th minute.
However Bayern Munchen showed why they are Champions. Two goals within 4 minutes from Jamal Musiala after a great one-two with Kingsley Coman in the 30th minute and then a clinical finish from Thomas Muller again assisted by Coman in the 34th minutes turned the game around to make it 2-1.
Though literally just 2 minutes later, Leipzig equalised in the 36th minute, through Justin Kluivert after he slotted the ball into the bottom left corner to make it 2-2.
Leipzig took the lead for the second time in the night after scoring inside 2 minutes of the second half. A good cross from Angelino left Emil Forsberg completely unmarked and he made no mistake in heading the ball into the net.
Bayern kept on fighting and got their reward after Thomas Muller nodded in his second of the game from the centre of the box to make it 3-3 in the 75th minute. It finished 3-3 as Bayern continue to remain top with 23 point as Leipzig remain second 2 points behind Bayern with 21. Nonetheless the game lived up to its hype.
