Saturday Football Roundup

To start up the hectic festive period in which a team's season can be made or get break, the Premier League Champions Liverpool showed their class as they thrashed Crystal Palace 7-0 at Selhurst Park recording their biggest away win. Goals from Takumi Minamino,Sadio Mane,Jordan Henderson and braces from Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah helped the Reds achieve that.

Having dropped points with 2 back to back draws, Manchester City wanted to reinstate their title challenge as they took on third place Southampton. In the Previous seasons it was City's Defence which was the problem. This time their defence is doing great but not the offence. Without Main Strikers Sergio Agüero and Gabriel Jesus, city lacked firepower up-front. Despite that City were able to clinch an important 1-0 away win against Southampton at the Saint Mary's.

As for Arsenal things just look bad. Facing high flying Everton was not gonna be easy and they found that the hard away. They conceded another own goal, their 3rd of the season in this game. They levelled up from the Penalty spot through Nicholas Pepe but another set piece doomed them down. Yerry Mina's headed in the 45th minute to make it 2-1 for Everton. This was Arsenal' 8th defeat of the season and they came end the weekend at 16th place if Burnley beat Bottom Club Sheffield United.

In the LaLiga, Barcelona dropped points again as well. They drew 2-2 with Valencia despite being 2-1 up at Halftime. Though this game will be remembered for Lionel Messi. He scored his 643rd goal for Barcelona which levelled him up with the Legendary Pele for most clubs for a single major club.

The Brazilian would then congratulated Messi for his achievement and said that he admired him a lot in an Instagram post which even FC Barcelona replied to.
