Summer Vacation Curtailed to 13 Days as Mumbai University releases Circular

 

With the examinations of most undergraduate courses coming to an end, the University of Mumbai (MU) realised a circular stating that the second term of the 2020-21 Academic Season will Commence from January 1st,2021 and end on May 31st.

With this statement,the Summer Vacation has been drastically curtailed to just 13 days starting from June 1st till June 13th.

The circular read "All faculties including traditional (Arts, Commerce and Science) as well as indisciplinary studies have followed first term from August 7 to December 31.The Second term will take place between January 1 to May 31 and the summer holidays will take place from June 1 to June 13."

As per the guidelines released by MU in the November 18 circular, afflicted colleges are supposed to hold online examination of the current undergraduate batches by the end of December 2020. Following this the Bombay University College and Teacher's Union (BUCTU) approached MU Chancellor seeking postponment of first year degree courses as they were yet to complete the mandatory 90 days of education due to late admissions.

Following this the MU realised a circular stating that the examinations of the first year degree courses should be concluded by 9 January,2021.
