Union Home Minister Amit Shah after his two-days visit to West Bengal, will return back to Delhi from Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport at Andal, Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal, India.
On Sunday evening, the Union Home Minister held a press conference citing several Major issues in West Bengal that need to be solved. He also pointed out the history of Bengal saying it was one of the richest states in India but has now degraded down to the lowest.
He said that people of Bengal want change in the state to end political violence, extortion and Bangladeshi infiltration. Overwhelmed by the huge turnout in his roadshow in Bolpur, Shah said he had never seen such a roadshow in his life and this shows people’s love towards PM Modi and anger towards Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Visits and Tributes Offered By Amit Shah:
On the first day(Saturday 19 December), Amit Shah visited the birthplace of Swamivivekananda and Ramakrishna Mission, Siddheshawari Temple, Mahamaya Temple, paid homage to revolutionary Khudiram Bose, and addressed a massive rally at Midnapore, where a number of opposition MLAs including Suvendu Adhikari joined the BJP.
Amit Shah started off his second day by visiting Rabindra Bhawan in Shantiniketan. He paid tributes to one of India’s greatest thinkers, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. “Gurudev’s contribution to India’s freedom movement will forever be remembered and his thoughts will continue to inspire our generations to come.,” the Home Minister tweeted.

Home Minister Amit Shah also visited the iconic Sangeet Bhawan of Visva Bharati University at Shantiniketan, Birbhum. “The aura of Gurudev Tagore is still very much here. We are committed to fulfill Gurudev Tagore’s dream and restore the lost glory of Bengal,” he said in another tweet.
After this, the Home Minister and other leaders went to visit the residence of Baul singer - Basudeb Das, at Bolpur in Birbhum district. He along with other party leaders had lunch at Basudeb’s home, a renowned Baul singer from Subhashpally in Shantiniketan. He thanked Basudeb and his family for being an “amazing host”.
Challenge To Mamata Banerjee:
Sending out a warning to CM Banerjee, Shah Saturday said the BJP will win more than 200 seats in next year’s state Assembly elections. Pointing out desertions from TMC, Shah took potshots at the party chief, saying that CM Mamata Banerjee will be left alone in the party by the time elections arrive.
Ending weeks of speculations, West Bengal political heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari along with nine MLAs of different parties and a TMC MP joined the BJP at Shah’s rally in Midnapore.
