Funds Collection Rally for Ram Temple in Ayodhya Sparks Riot in Gujarat; 3 Injured, 1 Brutally Killed.

During a rally on Sunday for collection of funds for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, at least 3 persons were injured in a clash between members of two communities in Kutch district, said the Gujarat Police on Monday.

Meanwhile, police are trying to ascertain if the man, whose body was found around 200 metres from the clash site in Kidana village, was killed as part of that violence, said Kutch (East) Superintendent of Police Mayur Patil.

What Happened in the Entire Incident:

Last evening, a procession was carried out in order to collect funds for the construction of the Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. As per an official from Gandhidham (B-Division) police station, two groups clashed and began hurling stones at each other in the village when the procession was being taken out.

  • The official added that rioters had even set some vehicles on fire.
  • In order to bring the situation under control, police had to lob teargas shells.
  • The official further said that three persons were injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Mayur Patil said that a man was found killed with sharp weapons after a group attacked an autorickshaw on the outskirts of the village. "We have lodged a case of murder after the man was killed by some unidentified persons on the village outskirts, some 200 metres away from the place where the clash broke out. We are trying to find out who killed him and why," Patil said.

The victim, who hailed from Jharkhand, was en route to his home in an auto-rickshaw when a group of unidentified lathi-wielding attacked the vehicle.

  • "While other passengers managed to escape, the victim died of knife injuries. How he received the injuries is yet to be ascertained," said the SP.

The Gujarat Police have lodged three separate FIRs. Out of the three, two FIRs have been filed by the two sides that clashed with each other. The third one was related to the murder.

Some people in connection with the incident have been detained by the police.
