Liverpool's Unbeaten League Record at Anfield comes to an end

After nearly 1,369 days Liverpool lost a Premier League game at Anfield when they were stunned  by Burnley on Thursday Night. The Reds suffered a 1-0 loss to Burnley from a late Penalty from Ashley Barnes as their form continued to dip.

With wins for both the Manchester Clubs and Leicester City in the midweek, Liverpool were in desperate need of a positive result. They had failed to score in the last 3 games and were on a winless run of 4 games.

Surprisingly Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp dropped Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino in an attempt to chance the formation and find some goals. They once again failed to take their chances.

The best chance of the game for them came in the 42nd minute when Burnley Captain Ben Mee made a huge error and gave the ball away to Divock Origi who then found himself one-on-one with Nick Pope. Somehow he managed to get more power than placement and smashed his effort at the crossbar.

The moment of Truth came in the 80th minute when Ashley Barnes tried to run on at goal. Liverpool keeper Alisson came out and tried to sweep it up but caught Barnes and brought him down and conceded a penalty. Barnes then converted it from 12 yards for a historic win for Burnley.

This was the first time the Clarets had won at Anfield in 46 years. Their last win came at Anfield came in 1974. For the Reds, it's now 5 games without a win in all competitions and have now failed to score in the last 4 games. They now face League Leaders Manchester United on Sunday again though in the FA Cup 4th round at Old Trafford. With Liverpool's next 5 league games which include Tottenham, Manchester City and Leicester City, it will take some work for Klopp to turn it around for the Defending Champions.
