No more Night Curfew in Mumbai says BMC;also plans on extending Vaccination Centres

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is considering not to extend the night curfew in Mumbai from January 5. The decision to do so was taken after a meeting of Civic body Officials with the Municipal Commissioner on Monday.

The state government had imposed a 14 days night curfew in Mumbai from December 22,2020 to January 5,2021 to restrict people gathering in groups for Christmas and New Year festivities.

A senior official from the Civic body said "As the number of new cases and deaths is on the decline,we don't intend on extending the night curfew." The official also added that the citizens had behaved them properly with taking responsibilities.

In another move, the BMC has decided to increase the number of Vaccination centres respectively. At the start, the BMC had prepared 8 hospitals which include 4 medical colleges and four peripheral hospitals. Now it is been reported that they are trying to expand the vaccination programme upto 75 centres.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani has said "Currently we can vaccinate 12,000 people a day. After these centres get ready, the capacity will increase to 50,000 vaccinations daily. The centres will be ready 2-3 days before the vaccines arrive."
