Time surely flies by quickly doesn't it? Well not so sure whether we would be saying that during the Lockdown period but ever since the unlocking phase started,time has seriously passed by quickly. Today 30th January, 2021, makes it exactly one year since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in India.
Started off as a viral disease in China in November 2019, the virus quickly spread it wings wide and flew over to other continents. In the 2nd and 3rd week of January, the news of COVID-19 outbreak in Italy had already stunned the nation and the fear had started to creep in our minds.
On January 30th,2020 India Registered it's first case of COVID-19 when a student of the Wuhan University in China was tested positive in Kerala. After a curious February were the number of cases started to pop up randomly one by one in some states, March 2020 was the time when the virus truly got the better of India.
In response to the disease in early March,2020 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had advised people to not take part in the Holi Festivities as it can become a reason for the widespread. Soon after that Schools, Colleges, Institutions, Workplaces began to shut down before PM Modi announced the a 21 day Complete Lockdown from 25th March,2020.
The lockdown was extended multiple times. It was a truly terrifying time. The streets had gone silent, People had started to fear one another, Building and Housing Societies got sealed whereas Hand Sanitizing, Wearing Mask, Maintaining Social Distancing and watching Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana on DD National at 9 am and 9 pm become our motive. The only question that popped in our minds was.. When is the Vaccine gonna come?
Lockdown Restrictions started to relax in June 2020 as the unlock phase began in India. Different rules were set by Different states. In the meantime the cases kept on rising from 10 to 100s to 1000s and 10000s daily.
In September,2020 India went through its worst phase of the Pandemic. Around 75,000-90,000 cases were reported every day as the country kept on setting unwanted records. In Reality the pandemic had actually happened in September.
As the nation kept on fighting this infections disease, October proved out to be a really shocking month. Somehow the number of daily cases began to decline and by the end of the month the daily case mark fell below 37,000. By the end of the year in December, India started reporting below 20,000 cases daily.
However the Pandemic is not over yet. There were around 13,000 cases reported yesterday but with the vaccination drive now out,if the people can continue this fight for a little long then India's victory over Corona is just a matter of time.
In this one year of time,India become the 2nd worst affected nation by COVID-19. According to the stats of WorldoMeter India has Recorded over 1,07,34,026 cases out of which around 1,04,09,160 have successfully recovered from this virus. Around 1,54,184 people succumbed to this virus. There are still 1,70,682 active cases in the country.
